Zhaopingtang Revolutionary Memorial Hall
The Zhaopingtang Revolutionary Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism destination and a base for patriotic education.
The Zhaopingtang Revolutionary Memorial Hall is located in Zhaopingtang Village, Tangxia Town, Rui'an City (a county-level city), Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province.
Zhaopingtang was one of the key strongholds of the Party during the New Democratic Revolution period in Rui'an. In 1926, under the organization and leadership of Communist Party member Lin Qubing, local farmers established the Zhaopingtang Farmers’ Association. In early 1927, the Zhaopingtang Branch of the Communist Party of China was established, leading the farmers in struggles against rent and interest payments. From January 30 to February 1, 1930, Jin Guanzhen, an inspector from the Central Committee of the CPC, presided over the Second Expanded Meeting of the Yongjia County Committee at Zhaopingtang. Afterward, the Zhaopingtang Party branch temporarily lost contact with higher Party organizations. It wasn’t until the summer of 1937 that Liu Ying, Secretary of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the CPC for the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region, came to Zhaopingtang, restored its connection with the higher Party organization, and reorganized the branch. In December 1939, the Southern Zhejiang Special Committee held a meeting in Zhaopingtang attended by responsible officials from the Yongjia and Rui'an County Committees, establishing the Yong-Rui Central County Committee. During the War of Resistance Against Japan and the Liberation War, the Southern Zhejiang Special Committee and Rui'an County Committee maintained an underground transportation and liaison station in Zhaopingtang to handle intelligence transmission and the escort of personnel. Throughout the long years of revolutionary struggle, the Party members and local people of Zhaopingtang made significant contributions to the cause.
The Zhaopingtang Revolutionary Memorial Hall is situated in Zhaopingtang Village, Luofeng Subdistrict Office, Tangxia Town, Rui'an City. It enjoys convenient transportation near National Highway 104 and a tranquil environment. Initiated by the Zhaopingtang Party Branch in 1989, the hall was constructed through voluntary donations from residents, investments by the village collective, and subsidies from the higher-level government. The site covers an area of 6,400 square meters, with a building area of 2,500 square meters. It features four exhibition halls displaying images and materials on the revolutionary history of Zhaopingtang and the eastern part of Rui'an, as well as six display cabinets for relics and written documents. There is also one lecture (meeting) hall and one reception room.
