Huang Shaorong’s Former Residence, commonly known as “Huang’s Mansion” among locals in Yunhe, is located on the campus of Yunhe County Vocational and Technical School in Zhejiang Province. It is a small seven-bay single-story Western-style house with a brick-and-wood structure, consisting of inner and outer rooms connected by a central corridor. The roof features a pointed European-style design, and the entrance hall is supported by four majestic pillars. Right at the entrance lies a nearly 2,000-square-meter military drill ground (now known as Yunzhong Drill Ground). Nearby historical relics from the War of Resistance include the Wayao Power Station and the Jikuan Swimming Pool.

Huang Shaorong, Li Zongren, and Bai Chongxi are collectively known as the “Three Heroes of Guangxi,” the “Three Titans of the Guangxi Clique,” or the “Three Bigwigs of the Guangxi Faction.” During the 1937 Battle of Niangziguan in Shanxi, Huang Shaorong received assistance from Nie Rongzhen’s troops of the Eighth Route Army and sought advice from Zhou Enlai on mobilizing the public to resist Japan, gaining firsthand experience in national unity for the anti-Japanese cause. At a critical moment for the nation’s survival, Zhou Enlai, then Vice Chairman of the Revolutionary Military Commission and Deputy Minister of the Political Department of the National Government Military Commission, traveled from Chongqing through the New Fourth Army headquarters in southern Anhui to the southeastern frontlines in Zhejiang. On April 2–3, 1939, Zhou Enlai and Huang Shaorong held a historic meeting, during which Zhou delivered his “Report on the Domestic Situation,” laying the political foundation for Kuomintang-Communist cooperation in resisting Japan in Zhejiang.
