Cao Village Nanya Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall

Nanya is located at the southern tip of Rui’an, adjacent to Pingyang County. Nanya Village was part of Rui’an’s revolutionary base areas. In 1928, a farmers’ association was established here, followed by the creation of a farmers’ Red Guards unit in 1929 to carry out revolutionary struggles. In 1936, the Provisional Revolutionary Committee of Southern Zhejiang under the Chinese Communist Party and the Pingyang County Committee of the CCP came to Nanya Village to recruit party members and established the Nanya Party Branch. In the summer of 1937, a unit of over 30 soldiers from the Advancing Division arrived in Nanya to conduct revolutionary activities. In 1940, the Pingyang County Committee of the CCP and its guerrilla squad moved into Nanya, setting up a communication and liaison station there. Nanya became one of the permanent bases for the Pingyang County Committee and the Xiaonan District Committee. For the next nine years, many meetings of the Pingyang County Committee were held here. Throughout the long years of revolutionary struggle, the Party members and revolutionary masses of Nanya Village made great sacrifices for the revolutionary cause. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, more than ten individuals from Nanya Village were recognized as martyrs.

The Cao Village Nanya Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall is located in Nanya Village, Cao Town, Rui’an City. In 2008, Nanya Village initiated the establishment of the Nanya Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall, which was completed and opened in the spring of 2010. The memorial hall covers an area of 300 square meters, with a built-up area of 360 square meters. The main structure is a three-story building, housing exhibits on the history of the revolutionary struggles in Nanya, stories of martyrs, photos, and historical artifacts.

The Cao Village Nanya Revolutionary Base Memorial Hall is a patriotic education base for youth in Rui’an City.
