Former Residence of Lin Qubing

The former residence of Lin Qubing is a cultural tourism attraction.

Lin Qubing (1905–1932), originally named Bao Kang, was from Ximen Street in Rui’an’s urban area. In July 1919, he enrolled at Rui’an Middle School, and in the summer of 1923, he began teaching at Datong Girls’ Primary School in Wenzhou. In early 1925, he served as an editor for the supplement of the Wenzhou Grand Daily, and in November of the same year, he joined the Communist Party of China, becoming a core member of the Wenzhou Independent Branch. In 1926, he worked to develop party organizations in Yueqing and Rui’an, and during the First United Front, he also joined the Kuomintang. In February 1927, he became the secretary of the Rui’an Special Branch of the CPC while concurrently serving as an executive committee member and head of the Organization Department of the Rui’an County KMT Committee. After the “April 12” counter-revolutionary coup in 1927, he withdrew from the KMT and continued revolutionary struggles in rural areas. In February 1928, he was appointed as the interim secretary of the Rui’an County Committee of the CPC. In June of the same year, he participated in the armed uprising of peasants and workers across Yongjia, Rui’an, and Pingyang counties, taking charge of organizing and leading Rui’an’s peasant forces. In September, when the Zhejiang South Special Committee of the CPC was established in Tiantai County, he became a standing committee member. In April 1929, he was transferred to become the secretary of the Ningbo Municipal Committee of the CPC but was soon arrested. He was martyred in 1932 at the Hangzhou Military Prison.

The former residence of Lin Qubing is located at No. 3, Lane 4, Ximen Street, Yuhai Subdistrict, Rui’an City, and was built in the late Qing Dynasty. In 2004, it was purchased and renovated by the Rui’an Old City Management Office, after which it was handed over to the Ximen Hetou Community of Yuhai Subdistrict for management and use. The residence covers a total area of 300 square meters, with the main structure being a two-story wooden building consisting of three bays.

The former residence of Lin Qubing is a cultural relic protection unit of Rui’an City.

He frequently contributed articles to the Ou Hai Bulletin and New Ou Tide, exposing the dark rule of warlords. A few months later, he joined the Communist Party of China through the introduction of Zheng Cechen.
