The Stone Buddha Mountain Cliffside Rock Carvings are located in Gaolou Township, Rui’an City, dating back to the Yuan Dynasty. The cliffs of Stone Buddha Mountain rise over 6 meters high and stretch more than 10 meters wide. On over 10 smooth, sheer cliff faces are distributed five Buddhist figures, including one bust and four full-body seated statues, as well as nearly 30 inscriptions. All are carved using linear relief techniques. Though having endured years of weathering, most of the Buddha figures remain distinct, with fluid and graceful lines. These carvings feature well-proportioned figures, full-faced designs, benevolent expressions, and lifelike craftsmanship.
