Niutoujing Site

The Niutoujing Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Rui’an City.

The Niutoujing Site is located on Niutoujing Mountain in Shantoushang Village, Jinggu Township, Rui’an City, covering an area of 6,000 square meters. A cultural deposit layer 30 centimeters deep was found in the slope section, yielding pottery shards including earthenware, stamped hard pottery, and blackened hard pottery, predominantly earthen stamped pottery and stamped hard pottery. Recognizable vessel shapes include earthen stamped pottery jars, pots, stamped hard pottery jars, and blackened pottery folded-shoulder dou vessels. Decorative patterns include straight-line patterns, thundercloud motifs, grid patterns, diagonal grid patterns, and fine cord impressions. Stone tools include stone adzes, stone spears, stone chisels, and stone arrowheads. The stone adzes are small, with triangular cross-sections in the unsegmented type and trapezoidal cross-sections in the segmented type. Based on the characteristics of the unearthed artifacts, the site is dated to the Neolithic Age to the Bronze Age.
