Rui'an Xishan Martyrs' Cemetery

Rui'an Xishan Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural relic protection unit of Rui'an City.

Xishan Martyrs' Cemetery is situated on Xixian Mountain in Chengguan Town, Rui'an City. Originally built in 1957 with an area of 1,800 square meters, it was relocated and reconstructed in May 1992, and completed in October 1994. The expanded site now spans a total area of 13,600 square meters, with a building area of 8,000 square meters. It adopts a combined architectural style of palace and garden designs, following the contour of the mountain to create a solemn and majestic atmosphere. The main structures include a gateway, memorial archway, Martyrs' Monument, martyrs' tombs, memorial hall, and exhibition hall.

The monument stands 14.9 meters tall and bears the gilded inscription “Rui'an Revolutionary Martyrs Monument” written by Hong Xuezhi. To the east of the monument is the Heroes’ Gallery, where the names of 479 martyrs from Rui'an are engraved on marble slabs. Behind the monument lie the martyrs' tombs, arranged on two levels, housing the remains of 120 martyrs. A screen behind the tombs displays the red characters “Revolutionary Martyrs Shall Live Forever,” written in the calligraphic style of Mao Zedong. To the south of the memorial hall is the exhibition hall, which displays historical relics related to Rui'an’s revolutionary struggles.
