Xianjiang Sun Clan Ancestral Hall

The Xianjiang Sun Clan Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Rui'an City.

The Xianjiang Sun Clan Ancestral Hall is located in Hengjie Village, Xianjiang Town, Rui'an City. It was originally built in the early Ming Dynasty, and the current structure dates back to the Qing Dynasty. The hall features two courtyards, surrounding corridors on both sides, and a five-bay width. The central section of the beam frame uses a post-and-lintel style, while the side sections use a through-tenon style, with a double-eave flush-gable roof. In recent years, thanks to public fundraising and government subsidies, preliminary repairs have been carried out to restore its former appearance.

This ancestral hall belonged to the Sun family, including Sun Long, who served as the prefect of Xin'an during the Tian Shun era (1457–1464) of the Ming Dynasty. It also served as the meeting site for the Rui'an Special Branch of the Chinese Communist Party during the Agrarian Revolutionary Period, where they promoted agrarian movements, implemented rent and interest reductions, and carried out struggles against local despots in Xianjiang.
