Feiyun Bridge

Feiyun Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected by Rui’an City.

Located in Daqiao Village, Feiyun Town, Rui’an City. Built in the fourth year of the Chongning era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1105), it spans east-west over the Daqiao River. It has three arches, is a beam-type stone structure, with a span of 11.6 meters, a bridge deck width of 1.6 meters, the central arch has a clear span of 4.2 meters, and both the eastern and western arches have a clear span of 3.7 meters. Each arch is paved with four bridge slab stones, each 0.4 meters wide × 0.23 meters thick. The slab stones of the eastern and western arches are further topped with seven stone steps each, giving them a unique form. The north and south sides of the central arch’s bridge slabs are inscribed with texts: the southern side reads “Constructed on the fifteenth day of the eleventh month of the Year of Yiyou in the Chongning era” (November 15, 1105), and the northern side reads “Wu Sanshijiu Niang, in gratitude to the Fourfold Kindness and Three Debts, erected this bridge.” Each pier is fitted with four square stone pillars per joint, featuring slight inward inclination.
