Longshan Pagoda

Longshan Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Rui’an City.

Longshan Pagoda is located on Longshan Hill in Chengguan Town, Rui’an City. Originally built during the Daguan era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1107–1110), it was later destroyed and rebuilt in the 12th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1379). The pagoda was originally constructed with a brick-and-wood structure, featuring a pavilion-style design, a Sumeru pedestal foundation, six sides with seven stories, and a lower story surrounded by an outer corridor. Each side of every level had implied corner pillars and leaning pillars, dividing the space into three bays. The central bay of each main floor was designed as either a window or door opening, with carved beams and painted rafters, or intricately designed brackets. The top floor featured a delicate structure. During wartime, the pagoda suffered severe damage, with many upper levels collapsed and bricks removed. In 1988, the Rui’an municipal government allocated funds to restore the pagoda to its original appearance. Today, the pagoda stands 38.5 meters tall and, together with the Feiyun River Bridge, forms a striking symbol of Rui’an city.
