Zhou Enlai Inspection Memorial Monument

The Zhou Enlai Inspection Memorial Monument is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

The Zhou Enlai Inspection Memorial Monument is located on Zhengping Mountain by the Shitang Hydropower Station Reservoir in Xiaoshun Village, Yunhe.

On the afternoon of April 2, 1939, Zhou Enlai, then Vice Minister of the Political Department of the Military Commission of the National Government, visited the “Zhejiang Ironworks” General Factory in Xiaoshun and delivered a nearly two-hour anti-Japanese salvation speech to all factory employees, greatly inspiring over a thousand workers.

In August 1989, the Yunhe County Committee and County People's Government erected a monument here. The front of the monument is inscribed with seven large characters: "Zhou Enlai Inspection Memorial Monument", and the back features a record of the inspection.

Zhou Enlai was a Marxist, proletarian revolutionary, statesman, military strategist, and diplomat. He was one of the principal leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Republic of China, as well as one of the founders of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and Premier of the People’s Republic of China (1949–1976). Originally from Shaoxing, Zhejiang, he was born in Huai'an, Jiangsu. In 1917, after graduating from Nankai School in Tianjin, he went to Japan to study. He returned to China in 1919, entered Nankai University in September, became a leader among Tianjin students during the May Fourth Movement, and co-founded the progressive group Awakening Society with other activists of the movement. ...
