The Jinsuotan Hydropower Project is located in Yunhe County, Zhejiang Province, on the Longquan Stream, the main upper reaches of the Ou River. It was a key national construction project during the Seventh Five-Year Plan period. The power station has six generating units with a total installed capacity of 305,000 kilowatts. Upon completion, the project became a major power plant for peak shaving and emergency reserves in the East China Power Grid, and greatly boosted the economic development of southern Zhejiang. It delivered substantial benefits in power generation, flood control, navigation, and aquaculture. In 1995, it was designated as a “Provincial Patriotic Education Base” by the Communist Party Committee of Zhejiang Province.
