Lan Yin Mountain
The Lan Yin Mountain Scenic Area is located southwest of Lanxi City and consists of three main parts: Lan Yin Mountain, the Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Site, and the Jiezi Garden, covering an area of 2.86 square kilometers.
Lan Yin Mountain stands at an elevation of 140 meters and earned its name from the flourishing orchids cultivated here in ancient times. Stretching across the river, it resembles a coiling dragon and is also known as Hengshan (Horizontal Mountain). From its summit, the view to the south reveals expansive, flat farmland with misty trees and villages; to the north, undulating hills stretch as far as the eye can see; and looking down, three rivers wind like sashes amidst a bustling scene of sailing boats. At night, fishing boats on the islet in the river and the reflections of candlelight create a breathtaking scene. To the west lies Lan Yin Temple, originally built during the Yuan Dynasty. In front of the temple is a cliff inscription reading “Deep in the Shade of Orchids,” dated to the 15th day of the Mid-Autumn month in the 14th year of the Zhengde Emperor’s reign (imperial inscription). “Spring Melons of Lan Yin” is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Lanxi. In front of the mountain is the Workers’ Rest Home, which boasts an elegant environment with lush greenery and uniquely designed buildings, terraces, pavilions, and trees. At the southern ridge of the mountain stands the towering “Juli Tower,” a nine-story, eight-sided structure with an internal spiral staircase. Climbing to the top and looking out in all directions, one can take in the full panorama of urban and rural landscapes. At the mountaintop overlooking the river are attractions such as Yingxian Gate, Immortal Altar, and Turtle Rock. On the eastern foothill is the Lingyuan Jiqing Hou Temple, commonly known as Hengshan Hall, originally built in the second year of the Taishi era during the Liu Song Dynasty and rebuilt in the sixth year of the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty. The official Lanxi County Annals from the Zhengde era were compiled at this temple, and in 1985 it was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit of Lanxi City.
On the northeast side of Lan Yin Mountain stands the Lanxi Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument and Memorial Hall, one of the city's patriotic education bases and the only memorial site for revolutionary martyrs in Lanxi. On the eastern foothills of Lan Yin Mountain is the Jiezi Garden, a memorial site dedicated to Li Yu, a Qing Dynasty drama theorist, playwright, and novelist. Since its opening, experts and scholars from more than ten countries and regions, including Japan, France, Germany, and South Korea, have visited for research. It has gradually become a must-visit destination for those traveling to Lanxi who wish to pay tribute to Li Yu.
