Ancient City of Lanxi

The Ancient City of Lanxi is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Ancient City of Lanxi was first built during the Song Dynasty and features: Scholar’s Lane, Embroidered Clothes Lane, Curved Lane, Kite Lane, Rainbow Turning Bridge, Heaven-Praying Terrace, Jin Wen’an Ancestral Hall, West Gate Wharf, Longli Gate... These ancient residences, alleys, and city gates have witnessed the rise and fall of Lanxi as a hub of land and water trade for centuries. Today, they remain preserved in the Tianfu Mountain area of Lanxi’s old town. After years of weathering, most of these historic structures in the Ancient City of Lanxi have reached their twilight years.

The ancestral home left by previous generations has a history of over 100 years.

It is an alley so narrow that only two people can pass side by side. On both sides of the alley are old houses with grey bricks and black tiles, many of which have peeling walls covered in moss. This is a courtyard-style residential house with a skywell, featuring wing rooms on both sides. The beams and bracket arms are carved with flowers, figures, and birds or beasts, and a plaque inscribed with “Baoshan Hall” hangs in the main hall.

In 2000, the Ancient City of Lanxi was listed as a cultural city by Zhejiang Province.
