Jiezi Garden

Jiezi Garden serves as a patriotic education base.

Situated at the foot of Lan Yin Mountain in Xixi New District, downtown, this classical-style garden complex adopts the name of the garden originally built by Li Yu near Xiaohou Terrace in Jiangning during his lifetime, and was created in his memory.

Jiezi Garden is located at the foot of Lan Yin Mountain in Lanxi City. This classical-style garden was built to commemorate Li Yu, a renowned Qing Dynasty dramatist, drama theorist, and novelist. Though compact in size, covering only 10.5 mu, the garden features pavilions, towers, small bridges, fish ponds, and precious flowers and trees, creating an impression of spaciousness, serenity, and refined elegance within its limited space. Strolling through the garden evokes deep reflections on the past and inspiration from historical figures, serving as a source of motivation and encouragement. As Feng Qiyong, President of the China Dream of the Red Chamber Research Association, once wrote in a poem: “Of all who mastered the subtleties of opera, none surpassed Li Yu; even this small garden is a marvel of design. Now transplanted here in Lanxi, it invites the autumn breeze along the river’s edge.”
