Bamboo Pond Jinshi Wooden Memorial Archway

The Bamboo Pond Jinshi Wooden Memorial Archway is a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Bamboo Pond Jinshi Wooden Memorial Archway is located in Nübu Subdistrict, Lanxi City, dating back to the Ming Dynasty.

The Bamboo Pond Village Jinshi Wooden Memorial Archway was built in the fourth year of the Chenghua era of Emperor Xianzong of Ming (1468).

The Bamboo Pond Village Jinshi Wooden Archway is located in Bamboo Pond Village, Nübu Subdistrict, approximately 14 kilometers from downtown Lanxi. To the east is the main road through the village, running from Bamboo Pond Village to Changshangang Village; the southern road is adjacent to the urban cultural asset 3, the home of Xu Qingbiao in the village; to the north it neighbors the household of Qian Shuisheng; to the west, a stone staircase leads down to a pond.

The Jinshi (successful imperial examination candidate) Archway is a wooden dougong-structured ancient structure, built in the year 1468. It stands approximately 5.2 meters tall and 3.5 meters wide, with a single bay and six pillars. The middle two pillars are supported by square blue stone plinths. The entire structure is roofed with blue tiles, featuring slightly upturned eaves, and the roof ridge is decorated with tile-carved coin motifs. Below the ridge sits a wooden plaque inscribed with two large regular-script characters: “Jinshi” (進士). On the right side, vertically arranged small characters read: “Written by Chen Wei, Literary Gentleman and Censor, Li Si, Prefect of Jinhua Prefecture, Niu Sheng, Vice Prefect, and Wang Bei, Judicial Commissioner.” On the left, vertically arranged small characters state: “Granted by Wang Lu, Prefect of Lanxi County, Zang Qing, Deputy Prefect, Lü Jun, Clerk, and Guo An, Constable, in honor of the granted Jinshi ancestor Xu’s family member Chen Xiang. Built in the fourth year of Chenghua, year of Wuzi, early summer, auspicious dawn.” Below the plaque are two tiers of one-dou-three-lift bracket sets integrated with beams and rafters. The entire structure is richly carved, showcasing the refined style of late Ming woodwork.

On January 13, 2017, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province announced it as part of the seventh batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.

It has successively developed agricultural brands such as “Fengshan Honey Peach,” “Huitan Sugarcane,” “Muwu Loquat,” and “Ganshan Wild Farming,” while also focusing on the development of industrial parks, with a planned land area of 253.14 hectares. In line with the municipal Party committee’s goals of “strengthening industry, boosting tertiary sectors, optimizing the environment, and improving people’s livelihoods,” the subdistrict has enhanced development. Animal husbandry has also become a major pillar of Nübu’s agriculture, with poultry and livestock farming reaching several million birds, ranking among the top in the city.
