Overview and main features: The Xiapu Ancient Trail is situated on Nanxianxiashan Mountain in Bao’an Township, Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province, at the convergence of the borders of Fujian, Zhejiang, and Jiangxi. Historically referred to as Guquan Mountain or Quanling Mountain, it was the sole overland official passage into Fujian in ancient times and is known as the “Gateway to Fujian.” It preserves China’s most intact historical relics from the late Tang Dynasty Huang Chao Rebellion, is a key provincial-level cultural heritage site in Zhejiang, one of the province’s classic red tourism destinations, and also one of the eight major hiking routes in Zhejiang. The trail follows the mountain terrain—its stone-paved paths are broad and wide, winding in zigzags and switchbacks as they climb upward. Halfway up the mountain, the incline becomes steeper. Lush hillsides line the path, creating picturesque and breathtaking scenery.

Bao’an Township: Bao’an Township is located at the southern end of Jiangshan City within the Xiapu Mountain Range. It neighbors Zhoucun Township to the east, Guangfeng to the west, Nianbadu to the south, and Xiakou to the north, and is 54 km away from downtown Jiangshan. The township covers a total area of 73.4 square kilometers and administers 12 administrative villages, 78 natural villages, 63 villager groups, 1,823 households, and a total population of 6,631.
