Nanjing Yuhuatai

Yuhuatai in Nanjing is a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction and a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Yuhuatai Scenic Area is located 1 kilometer outside the Zhonghua Gate of Nanjing, covering an area of 153.7 hectares with over 90% green space coverage. It has been recognized as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base, one of the first batch of National AAAA-level Tourist Attractions, a National Advanced Scenic Area, a National Model Unit for Protecting Tourists' Rights and Interests, and has obtained ISO9001/14001 certification. The site welcomes over 2 million visitors per year.

Yuhuatai

During the Three Kingdoms period under the Eastern Wu dynasty, Yuhuatai was known as Shizigang, Manao Gang, or Jubao Mountain. In the Southern Dynasties, when Buddhism flourished, legend has it that the eminent monk Master Yunguang preached here. His devout teachings moved heaven, causing flowers to fall like rain—hence the name. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the scenic spots "Yuhua Preaching" and "Mumu Fenggao" were listed among the "Eighteen Scenic Spots of Jinling" and the "Forty-eight Scenic Spots of Jinling," respectively, making it a renowned tourist destination in the Jiangnan region.

The Yuhuatai Scenic Area consists of six functional zones: Historic Sites, Martyrs’ Cemetery, Yuhua Stone Culture, Yuhua Tea Culture, Recreational Activities, and Ecological Forest. In recent years, more than 20 historical sites and pavilions have been newly built or restored, including Yuhua Pavilion, Erzhong Shrine, Mumu Pavilion, Qianlong Imperial Stele Pavilion, Fang Xiaoru’s Tomb, the Horses and Soldiers Tomb of the 1911 Revolution, Ganlu Well, Xiyuan Garden, Yiyuan Garden, and Meigang. Today, the site features the nation’s largest and most majestic complex of martyrs’ memorial architecture, long-standing historic landmarks, lush forests, seasonal flowers, world-famous Yuhua stones, and renowned Yuhua tea. It has become a multifunctional scenic area integrating education, tourism, leisure, and services. The Yuhuatai Scenic Area warmly welcomes domestic and international visitors to come and explore.

Yuhuatai Opening Hours: Monday–Sunday, 8:00–17:00; Yuhuatai Martyrs’ Memorial Hall: Tuesday–Sunday, 8:30–17:00 (last entry at 16:00), closed on Mondays.

Ticket Information:

Free admission. Yuhuatai is free to enter; the Yuhua Stone Museum charges an adult ticket of 10 RMB/person; Yuhua Pavilion charges an adult ticket of 7 RMB/person.
