Stone Carvings at the Ming Tomb in Yaonan Village

The stone carvings at the Ming tomb in Yaonan Village are a protected cultural heritage site of Jiangsu Province.

The stone carvings at the Ming tomb in Yaonan Village are located in Yaonan Village, Xishanqiao Subdistrict, Yuhuatai District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, on the north side of the village.

Discovered in 1958, the original tomb complex was quite large, and its stone carvings included: foundation stones of the offering hall, turtle pedestals, stone steles, memorial archways, civil and military officials, stone horses, stone tigers, stone sheep, stone lions, and stone ornamental pillars. The site was renovated in 1982. Currently, there are two stone sheep, two stone tigers, two stone qilins, two stone horses, two civil officials, and two military officials. The damaged parts were restored in 1984. The foundation platform of the original tomb’s ceremonial hall and other structures are still clearly visible, along with the remains of a lotus pond measuring 50 meters in length and 20 meters in width. Due to the destruction of the sacred path, the identity of the tomb owner remains unknown.

On December 19, 2011, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province designated it as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units.
