Palace of Supreme Heaven’s Blessings

The Palace of Supreme Heaven’s Blessings, also known as Jiuxiao Palace or Summit Palace, is located atop Damao Peak. Its architectural complex is built along the mountain, grand and majestic, exuding an awe-inspiring presence. It ranks first among the “Three Palaces and Five Temples” of Maoshan. During peak pilgrimage seasons, it attracts throngs of worshippers and tourists, making it a top destination for both travel and spiritual worship.

The palace originated in the Han Dynasty. Initially, it featured stone altars and stone houses housing stone statues of the Three Sovereigns of Maoshan. During the Qi and Liang dynasties, it was replaced with formal halls. In the third year of the Yuan Dynasty's Yanfu era (1316), an imperial decree established the site as the Sacred Station Temple, dedicated to the worship of the Great Sovereign of Maoshan, Mao Ying. In the 26th year of the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era (1598), an imperial decree led to the construction of new halls, and the site was bestowed the name "Palace of Supreme Heaven’s Blessings."
