Ruins of Song and Yuan Dynasty Granaries

The Ruins of Song and Yuan Dynasty Granaries are a protected cultural heritage site of Jiangsu Province.

Zhenjiang in Jiangsu Province was historically where the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal met the Yangtze River. It is home to 13 large ancient granaries from past dynasties, serving as evidence of Zhenjiang’s role as a key hub for canal grain transport. This site was thus shortlisted among China's Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries of 2009. However, in July 2010, this site had already been destroyed by developers who built a real estate project on it. In May 2013, it was designated as part of the seventh group of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level by the State Council.
