Jiangsu Provincial Zhenjiang Library

The Jiangsu Provincial Zhenjiang Library is a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Jiangsu Provincial Zhenjiang Library was a new library building constructed by the Jiangsu Provincial National Government at the southern end of Zhongzheng Road (now No. 17 Jiefang Road, the current address), covering an area of about 14 mu. The entire structure was built with reinforced concrete and fireproof bricks, making it resistant to fire, moisture, and earthquakes. It had a three-story book depository and two-story reading and office spaces. The plaque of “Jiangsu Provincial Zhenjiang Library” was inscribed by Fu Zengxiang, a renowned bibliophile of the time, whose elegant and dignified calligraphy bore the style of Tang Dynasty steles—refined yet bold, with impressive craftsmanship especially visible in the turns of the strokes.

On June 5, 2006, the Jiangsu Provincial Zhenjiang Library was designated as part of the sixth batch of Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.
