Ancient Tang Locust Tree

The Ancient Tang Locust Tree is located on the western slope of Chuwang Mountain in Dapeng Town, Tongshan. Legend has it that this ancient locust tree dates back to the Tang Dynasty. The tree trunk has a circumference of 4.5 meters, with the main trunk standing over 4 meters tall and reaching a total height of more than 10 meters when including its branches. Its canopy covers an area of over 40 square meters. The main trunk is hollow, and its roots are twisted and exposed on the ground, creating a spectacular and majestic sight. The tree is lush with foliage and sheds its leaves relatively late. Even more remarkably, a small wild locust tree has spontaneously grown in the hollow of the ancient tree. In spring, its fresh green branches and leaves present a truly wondrous spectacle.

The Ancient Tang Locust Tree on Chuwang Mountain is a county-level key cultural relic protection unit. An iron fence has been installed around the tree for protection, and it is currently in good health. Nearby attractions include: to the north of the mountain lies the Chuwang Mountain Han Tombs Cluster, to the southern slope is the Chuwang Mountain Thousand Buddha Cave, and on the southwestern slope are the Various Buddhas Pagoda and a five-courtyard Ming Dynasty complex.
