It sits at an elevation of 320 meters. To the northwest lies “Zigong Mountain,” on which there is a “Zigong Book-Drying Platform.” According to the *Spring and Autumn Annals*, “In the summer of the tenth year of Duke Ding of Lu, the Duke met the Marquis of Qi at Jiagu,” while the *Zuo Commentary* states, “The Duke met the Marquis of Qi at Zhuzhi—this place is Jiagu. Confucius assisted…” Historical records confirm this site as the location where Confucius assisted the Duke of Lu in meeting the Marquis of Qi. During the Ming Dynasty, Pei Tianyou, the then Chief Minister of the Supreme Court, visited this mountain and composed the verse: “Lush hills lie west near Zhuzhi City; here Qi and Lu once held their alliance.” In the Ming Dynasty, commemorative structures such as the “Sage Hall,” “Sage Temple,” “Sanctification Pavilion,” and “Kui Star Pavilion” were built here. Today, only the foundation of the Sage Hall remains, with the rest having collapsed and been lost to time. Also preserved is a stone stele erected in the Wanli year of the Ming Dynasty (1576), inscribed with “The Site Where Confucius Assisted the Duke of Lu in Meeting the Marquis of Qi,” which remains intact. Confucius, serving as the chief minister of Lu, took part in the meeting and alliance between Duke Ding of Lu and the Marquis of Qi at Jiagu Mountain—an important event in the history of Qi-Lu relations during the Spring and Autumn period. The preservation of this site holds significant value for the study of Confucius and the history of the pre-Qin era. It was designated as part of the second group of cultural heritage protection units in Lianyungang City in 1993.
