Xu Fu Shrine

Xu Fu Shrine is a cultural heritage site protected by the city of Lianyungang.

Xu Fu Shrine is located in Xu Fu Village, Jinshan Town, Ganyu County. In 1982, experts confirmed that this was the hometown of Xu Fu, a Qin Dynasty alchemist. It is said that there is a platform site in the village where Xu Fu’s former residence once stood. In 1985, the People's Government of Ganyu County erected a village stele in front of the original site. The stele is 324 cm tall and 86 cm wide, with the front side inscribed with the three regular-script characters “Xu Fu Village” personally written by Zhao Puchu, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, each character measuring 28 cm in diameter. The back of the stele features an inscription written by the People’s Government of Ganyu County. In 1988, a Han-style replica building called “Xu Fu Shrine” was reconstructed on the original site of the Xu Fu Temple, along with the unveiling of a large statue of Xu Fu. Xu Fu Shrine covers an area of 400 square meters, with the shrine building itself spanning 132.6 square meters. Xu Fu Shrine includes the Xu Fu Village Stele, Xu Fu River Mouth, Xu Fu Herbal Planting Site, and Xu Fu Residential Site.

The discovery of Xu Fu Village has played an important role in advancing research on Xu Fu and the history of cultural exchange between China and Japan. In 1993, it was designated as part of the second batch of cultural heritage protection units in Lianyungang City.

Protected Area:

Centered around the stele, extending 40 meters to the south, 36 meters to the north, to the riverbank to the east, and 100 meters to the west.
