The Tashan Earth City Ruins are a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Lianyungang City.

Tucheng Ruins

Located in Tucheng Village, Tashan Town, Ganyu District, Lianyungang City. According to archaeological surveys, the ancient city site is nearly square in shape, with a total area of nearly 520,000 square meters. The eastern wall of the city site stretches 710 meters from north to south with a base width of 27 meters. Cross-sections show that the wall was built using a layer-by-layer ramming technique, with each layer of rammed earth being 0.15 meters thick, and some layers containing pottery fragments. The southern wall is 720 meters long from east to west with a base width of 27 meters. The moat runs close to the outer side of the city walls, generally 50 meters wide and 3–5 meters deep. Only the southern gate shows identifiable traces, but its overall structure and dimensions cannot be clearly determined. Other gates have been destroyed by modern construction and are no longer traceable. According to the "Historical Atlas of China" and related historical records, the location of the Tucheng Ruins corresponds to the territory of either Jijin County or Ganyu County during the Han Dynasty. Given the scale of the ruins, it is speculated that they may have been a subdivision such as a "li" or "you" under the administration of either Jijin or Ganyu County.

It was designated as one of the first batch of cultural heritage protection units in Ganyu County in 1987, and as the fourth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Lianyungang City in 2010.
