Tanggou Town is located at the lower reaches of the Yi, Shu, and Si rivers, fronted by the Liutang River and backed by the Chaimi River, hence the name “Three Rivers Converge,” and is also known as the “Flood Corridor.” The town is lush with green trees and boasts uniquely sweet water and fragrant soil, along with the wonder of birds nesting and swallows gathering, earning it the beautiful nickname “Nest of Swallows and Orioles.”

Tanggou Town: Formerly known as Tangjia Gou or Tanggou, this area was historically part of an earthquake subsidence zone. According to ancient records, it became a vast lake due to earthquakes during the Qin Dynasty. Before the Song Dynasty, it was called “Dasan Lake” or “Shuohuo Lake.” During the Song and Yuan dynasties, its southeastern part was renamed “Shuoxiang Lake,” while the northwest became “Sangxu Lake.” Tanggou emerged at the junction of these two lakes, from which its name originates.
