The Yang Family’s Private Opera House is located at No. 75 Dongxiatang. It was initially built by Yang Yongsheng in the late Qing Dynasty and features classical courtyard architecture. This is the only remaining private opera house in Jiangsu. The structure is a pavilion-style wooden building with two floors, standing 4.9 meters tall, 4.2 meters wide, and 3.2 meters deep. It is open on three sides, has a square floor plan, and is a Qing-style building with a hip-and-gable roof. It faces west and features carved decorations on wooden elements such as hanging lattices. A fireproof wall is built on the eastern side of the house. The upper floor has windows on the other three sides. The lower floor has a small door on the western side, long windows on the southern and northern sides, and a small courtyard. It is the only remaining private opera house in Jiangsu. In 2013, waterproofing and reinforcement work were carried out on the opera house.
