Jiangsu Shahe Pumped Storage Power Station is located in the scenic Tianmu Lake, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, and is the first pumped storage power station in our province. It lies 8 kilometers from the urban area of Liyang City.

The power station was constructed on September 18, 1998, with an estimated total investment of 603.3 million yuan. It has an installed capacity of 100 million kilowatts and an annual power generation of 182 million kilowatt-hours. Unit 1 and Unit 2 were officially put into commercial operation in June and July 2002, respectively.

A modern science education park themed around hydroelectric knowledge — the Jiangsu Hydroelectric Science Park — has been established within the power station. It integrates education with leisure and entertainment. The park mainly consists of the Longjie Valley Natural Scenic Belt, the Tang Temple Ruins (Longxing Temple), and a miniature landscape area of hydroelectric and water conservancy facilities.
