The Sacred Site of Taigong Mountain is located within the Liyang Tianmu Lake Tourist Resort and is the highest-altitude scenic spot in the resort. Originally named Fishing Platform, Taigong Mountain is said to be where Jiang Taigong fished.

Here, beautiful peaks, mirror-like waters, lush greenery, and uniquely shaped rocks compete in beauty, forming a stunning landscape. The area’s dense vegetation, distance from the city center, and lack of nearby industrial or mining enterprises result in unpolluted air and water, creating a unique and pleasant microclimate.

The main gate of Taigong Mountain stands 13 meters tall, featuring exquisite structure and majestic presence. In front, two dragons coil and soar through the clouds, leading up to 103 steps. The gate is a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof structure, three bays wide, with the central bay as the main entrance, flanked by side chambers. Both sides are inscribed with Brahmic script, each with three eaves and three ridges, adorned with the “Carp Taigong Gate.” Bathed in sunlight, it shines brilliantly. On Taigong Mountain lies a rock no larger than five square meters, featuring a seat, two footprints, and a fish basket. The basket is about the size of a washbasin, around 30 centimeters deep, and holds water year-round without ever drying up. Legend says that after helping King Wu establish the Western Zhou Dynasty, Jiang Ziya traveled far and wide, eventually arriving at Tianmu Lake, where he fished leisurely in a dragon pool. From the plaza of the main hall, the glistening surface of Tianmu Lake shimmers gloriously, stretching into the distance. To the southeast, the misty peaks of Nanshan Mountain rise and fall in layers, presenting a picturesque scene of varied forms. With the lake’s beauty and the resort’s uniquely quaint architecture, visitors are greeted with a refreshing and elegant atmosphere.

A statue of Taigong stands atop the mountain, reaching 18.83 meters in height with a 3-meter base, entirely cast in bronze and weighing 133 tons. In his left hand, he holds the Book of Heaven without words, while his right grasps the Spirit-Banishing Whip and the Apricot Yellow Banner. With a long beard and gaze fixed ahead, he appears as if strategizing with confidence. A long pavilion and corridor are built beside the waterfall pool, nestled between cliffs. Shrouded in morning and evening mist, they appear and disappear intermittently, seemingly neither on land nor in water. Inside the corridor lies Taigong Mountain’s fishing pond, offering shelter from wind, rain, and sun, as well as the chance to fish and personally experience the feeling of Jiang Taigong, who “remained composed on the fishing platform despite turbulent waves.”
