Tianmu Lake Scenic Area is the core attraction of the 5A-level Tianmu Lake Tourism Zone. It represents the most poetic and naturally beautiful part of Tianmu Lake, featuring sites such as the Filial Piety Culture Park, the Number One Scholar Culture Zone, the Exotic Stones Museum, the Elf Kingdom, the Butterfly Valley, and China Tea Island. Surrounded by mountains embracing the water, with shimmering waves, scattered islands on the lake, and winding, serene shores, it stands out with its landscape of mountains encircling the water and the water reflecting the mountains. Boating on the lake takes you through overlapping peaks, competing pine waves, and flying birds and beasts, offering a magical journey like dreaming in a fairyland. Boat cruises are a classic activity here, accommodating over a thousand visitors at a time to explore Tianmu Lake.

The culture of imperial examination scholars is the highlight of the Hushan Historical and Cultural Zone, while filial piety culture is the opening theme of the Traditional Culture Park. The Exotic Stones Museum showcases rare stones from around the world, and the Jiangnan Tea Village on China Tea Island is a perfect spot to enjoy gourmet food and purchase unique souvenirs. The Butterfly Valley on Longxing Island takes you on a fantastical journey reminiscent of Zhou Guan’s Dream of the Butterfly. The newly created exhibition halls — “Butterfly Love,” “Butterfly Dream,” and “Butterfly Art” — comprehensively present the beautiful legends and intrinsic value related to butterflies. The elaborately designed Elf Kingdom features Linda’s Stage, Duoer’s Village, and Jimmy’s Paradise, creating a joyful animal-themed park for children. Here, you can encounter the musical masterpiece of the animal kingdom — the spectacular performance of the Elf Band — and interact with the actors while exploring and having fun.

Transportation: Bus: Take bus No. 9 from Liyang Bus Terminal to Tianmu Lake. The first bus departs at 06:10, with services running every 15 minutes until the last bus at 18:30. The journey takes about 1 hour, and the fare is 7 yuan. To return, you can board a bus on the roadside opposite Tianmu Lake Hotel. Self-driving: Shanghai (urban area) – Yan’an Elevated Road – A20 Outer Ring Road – Shanghai–Nanjing Expressway – Wuxi North – Xiyi Expressway – Hangzhou–Nanjing Expressway (heading toward Nanjing) – Exit at Liyang South – Provincial Highway 241 – Tianmu Lake Tourist Resort.
