Longtan Forest Park is located 8 kilometers south of Tianmu Lake and covers an area of approximately 20,000 acres. The park is filled with vast expanses of bamboo, Masson pine, chestnut trees, and tea bushes, adorning the mountains and valleys in lush greenery. A 4-kilometer mountain trail winds through the park, flanked by towering bamboo and trees, with pine needles carpeting the ground, and flowers such as azaleas and white roses dotting the roadside. The trail passes by Xia Meilin at an elevation of 210 meters before reaching the park’s highest peak—Liumuding, standing at 348 meters above sea level—offering a vast and open landscape. Climbing to the watchtower allows you to take in the panoramic views of Hengshan Reservoir in Yixing and the picturesque scenery of Tianmu Lake, as if painted on a canvas. Near the park lies the ruins of Qianhua Temple, originally built during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, though now only fragmented walls remain. However, the magnolia trees and fragrant gardens within the temple grounds still thrive with vitality.
