Tang Jingchuan’s Former Residence

Tang Jingchuan, originally named Shunzhi, was an outstanding literary figure, scholar of the School of Mind, and anti-pirate hero during the Ming Dynasty. He was also a distinguished inheritor and promoter of Changzhou’s cultural heritage. The Songjian Hall within Tang Jingchuan’s Former Residence is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit.

The architectural complex faces south and is divided into eastern and western sections, with a total floor area of approximately 1,679 square meters: the eastern section consists of three courtyards, while the western section currently has four courtyards and holds significant historical value. In 2014, a comprehensive restoration of Songjian Hall was carried out. The restoration work included roof repairs, reconstruction of courtyard structures, preservation of historical traces, elimination of existing safety hazards, and restoration of the original layout. The restoration has now been largely completed.
