Former Site of Zhongming Middle School

The former site of Zhongming Middle School is a cultural relic protection unit of Changzhou City.

The former site of Zhongming Middle School is located at No. 13 Hongxing Road, Jiaoxi, Zhenglu Town, Tianning District, by the Sanyuan Bridge. In 1945, Shang Yiyong and other businesspeople from Jiaoxi residing in Shanghai raised funds to establish Zhongming Middle School, using the ancestral halls of the Shi and Xu families on Nanxiatang as temporary premises, in memory of Mr. Shijing (Shi Jing), a renowned figure from Jiaoxi during the Qing Dynasty and the founder of the Shunshan Academy. In 1948, five rooms of a building and five rooms of a bungalow were constructed at the former site of Tongshantang by the Sanyuan Bridge, serving as school buildings. Currently, a five-bay blue-brick building faces south and stands to the north. In 2005, it was repurposed as a "Church."

Zhenglu Town: Zhenglu Town has a long history. The Sidun Site, located in Sanhuangmiao Village in the southern part of the town, has yielded a large number of cultural relics through multiple excavations, confirming that our ancestors lived and thrived here over 5,000 years ago, developing an advanced stage of the Liangzhu Culture and forming the embryonic form of a "state."

Zhenglu Town enjoys a superior geographical location and convenient transportation. Changjiao Highway and the Outer Ring Road of Changzhou pass through the town; the Beitang River connects to the Grand Canal in the south and the Yangtze River in the north; the town area is only 4 kilometers from the Hengshan Interchange of the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, 30 kilometers from Changzhou Civil Aviation Airport, with the Shanghai-Nanjing Railway to the south and the Changzhou Port on the Yangtze River to the north...
