Nantong Water Supply Technology Museum

The Nantong Water Supply Technology Museum is located within the Nantong Waterworks near Longzhayán in the Langshan Scenic Area of Nantong. To the west lies the vast Yangtze River where water meets the sky, to the south are the lush Huangníshān and Mǎ'ānshān mountains, and to the east stretches an open expanse of emerald peach orchards. About 1,000 meters southeast stands Langshan Mountain, which rises 108 meters above sea level. The modern Nantong Waterworks complex features white walls, blue-tiled roofs, upturned eaves, small bridges over flowing water, and lush greenery with bright flowers — a truly enchanting Jiangnan-style garden.

Upon entering the museum gate stands a seven-meter-tall sculpture titled “Source of Life.” Three stylized, ancient Chinese dragons twist powerfully, symbolizing the soaring development of the water supply industry.

The museum exhibits the history of human water use, introduces basic knowledge about water, explains the preciousness of water resources, illustrates that water is the source of life, describes the process of tap water production, explains key points of water supply technology, promotes water conservation awareness, and showcases the development of China’s modern water supply industry. Through visiting, people gain a deeper understanding of water, enhance their awareness of protecting water resources, and become more conscious of cherishing the “source of life” — water.
