Shanghai Wild Animal Park is a National AAAAA-level tourist attraction and a science education base.

Shanghai Wild Animal Park is China's first national-level wildlife park, jointly built by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the State Forestry Administration of China. It is located at No. 178 Nanhui Highway, Pudong, Shanghai, covering an area of 153 hectares (2,300 acres), approximately 35 kilometers from downtown Shanghai. The park was invested with 300 million RMB and officially opened to the public on November 18, 1995, as one of China's first AAA-level tourist attractions. On May 8, 2007, it was officially approved by the National Tourism Administration as a National 5A-level tourist attraction. The park is home to over 200 species of representative and rare animals from around the world, numbering in the tens of thousands, including foreign species such as giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and white rhinoceroses, as well as China’s first-class protected animals like giant pandas, golden monkeys, and golden takins. The park is divided into two main visiting areas: drive-through and walk-through.

Free Admission Policy

Free entry is available for holders of valid documents such as active military officer ID, active enlisted soldier ID, retirement certificate, military academy student ID, civil service ID, military retirement ID, armed police officer ID, revolutionary disabled military personnel ID, revolutionary martyr family certificate, and disability certificate.

One adult with a valid entry ticket may bring one child under 6 years old or under 1.3 meters tall for free.
