Lupu Bridge

Lupu Bridge is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Lupu Bridge spans the Huangpu River in a single arch, resembling a rainbow and acclaimed as the "Rainbow Bridge of the New Century." With a span of 550 meters and an all-steel structure, it ranks first among similar bridges worldwide and is hailed as the "World's No.1 Steel Arch Bridge," standing unparalleled. It has become another iconic landmark of Shanghai. During the two years and eight months of construction by the Shanghai Construction Group, the project set 10 world records.

The two rainbow-shaped arch ribs at the top of Lupu Bridge are formed by welding together continuous steel boxes, marking an era-defining leap in bridge construction technology.

Building a bridge over the Huangpu River dates back to the Republican era, when the idea was proposed and even designs were created, but abandoned for various reasons.

As a result, until the 1970s, discussions about Shanghai’s bridges were still limited to those over rivers such as the Suzhou Creek.

In 1971, the Songpu Bridge was completed, ending the history of no bridges over the Huangpu River. Then, in 1991, 1993, 1995, and 1997, Shanghai built the Nanpu Bridge, Yangpu Bridge, Fengpu Bridge, and Xupu Bridge respectively, averaging one new bridge every two years. By Car

From the Northbound Nanbei Elevated Road, exit at Xujiahui Road ramp, go straight along Luban Road to arrive. For Southbound Nanbei Elevated Road, turn right onto Inner Ring Elevated Road, make a U-turn at the Tibet South Road ramp, then head to Lupu Bridge; from the Westbound Inner Ring Elevated Road, exit at Ruijin South Road ramp, go to Luban Road and turn right to go straight; from the Eastbound Inner Ring Elevated Road, exit at Tibet South Road ramp, go to Luban Road and turn left to go straight.

By Bus

Buses 806, 205, 733, 36, 146, 17 have their final stop at Lupu Bridge; get off at Zhongshan South 1st Road via buses 933, 45, 253 and walk 5 minutes to arrive.

By Metro

Metro: Exit at Luban Road Station on Line 4, walk 10 minutes to arrive.
