The Shanghai Geological Science Museum serves as a science education base.

Also known as Moon Bay Gem City, the Shanghai Geological Science Museum is located within the Pudong Lingkong Agricultural Grand View Garden, the "back garden" of Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The main exhibition hall covers an area of 3,600 square meters, the secondary hall over 1,000 square meters, and the outdoor rare stones exhibition spans 500 acres. The museum is divided into nine exhibition halls: the Earth Hall, Earth Structure Hall, Mineral and Rock Hall, Paleontology Hall, Geomorphology Hall, Land and Resources Hall, Gem Hall, Care Hall, and Rare Stones Gallery.

The museum houses tens of thousands of rare stones, mineral varieties, paleontological fossils, and various gemstones meticulously collected over decades from abroad by the renowned geological collector Mr. Lü Huangao. With grand vision and an impressive display of breadth, precision, scale, and uniqueness, it reveals the mysteries of the Earth and the wonders of nature. It enriches the spiritual and cultural life of the public, promotes geological science knowledge—especially among primary and secondary school students—and enhances awareness of loving and protecting the Earth.
