Shanghai Riverside Park

The Riverside Park stretches 2,500 meters in length and is an integrated riverside landscape project that combines sightseeing, greening, transportation, and service facilities, focusing on urban ecological environment and functionality. The park consists of waterside platforms, terraced greenery, semi-underground enclosures, and scenic pathways, representing a 21st-century vision of Shanghai’s Eastern Bund.

On the gradually rising slope beside the waterside platform, flowers and shrubs are nestled within lush green lawns, while tall trees and dense shrubbery create a tranquil, peaceful environment away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Riverside Park also features the Century Fountain with 21 sets of jets in a wave-chasing design, a fully transparent wind-viewing pavilion, and has preserved a shipyard dock and giant iron anchor with over 70 years of history.

Gaoqiao Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Pudong New Area, Shanghai. During the Song Dynasty, it belonged to Linjiang Township of Kunshan County; during the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, it was part of Yiren Township of Jiading County; in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China era, it was governed by Baoshan County; before 1949, it was part of Gaoqiao District of Shanghai. In 1956, it came under Dongjiao District; in 1958, it was assigned to Pudong County; in 1961, it was incorporated into Chuansha County; and in 1993, it became part of Pudong New Area. The ancient town of Gaoqiao got its name in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties from a bridge within its borders called “Gaoqiao” (High Bridge). Located in the northern part of the district, it is shaped like a “convex lens,” wedged between Waigaoqiao and Donggou Town, with seven detached land parcels.
