The Sunqiao Modern Agricultural Development Zone serves as a patriotic education base.

Since its establishment in September 1994, the Sunqiao Modern Agricultural Development Zone has been approved as one of the first 21 national agricultural science and technology parks, a national demonstration and promotion base for the introduction of foreign intellectual achievements, a national key leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization, a national standardized demonstration zone for green vegetable greenhouse cultivation, and a key construction unit of Shanghai's modern agricultural parks. It has also completed ISO14001 environmental management system certification for 1 square kilometer, obtaining both domestic and international certificates. With the forward-looking development philosophy of "aligning advanced foreign agriculture with China's agriculture and transforming traditional agriculture into modern agriculture," the zone leads the industry. Based on factory-style, facility-based agriculture empowered by modern technology, it focuses on high-tech bioengineering and agri-product processing related to facility agriculture, uses domestic and international trade as a link, and pursues an integrated path of agricultural industrialization that combines production, processing, sales, agricultural science, and tourism. It fulfills five major functions: production demonstration, promotion and radiation, tourism, science education, and export earnings, achieving a unified balance of social, ecological, and economic benefits.
