Shanghai Tower

Shanghai Tower, a super-high-rise landmark skyscraper in Shanghai, China, was designed to be taller than the nearby Shanghai World Financial Center. The project covers an area of 433,954 square meters, with the main structure consisting of 118 floors and a total height of 632 meters, a structural height of 580 meters, and parking for 2,000 vehicles located underground.

Construction of the main building’s pile foundation began on November 29, 2008. On March 12, 2016, the overall structure of Shanghai Tower was officially completed.

On April 27, 2016, the “Shanghai Tower” held an unveiling ceremony for its builders’ honor wall and announced phased trial operations. On April 26, 2017, the “Shanghai’s Top” observation deck on the 118th floor officially opened to the public.

Multiple domestic and international design firms, including SOM Architecture from the U.S., KPF Architects from the U.S., and Shanghai Modern Architectural Design Group, submitted design proposals. The “Dragon” design by Gensler from the U.S. and the “Spire” design by Foster + Partners from the UK made it to the final round. After evaluation, the “Dragon” design was selected. The detailed design of the tower was based on the “Dragon” design, with construction drawings completed by Tongji University Architectural Design & Research Institute.

2. Discounted ticket: 120 RMB for students and seniors aged 60 and above (with valid ID)

3. Children between 1 meter and 1.4 meters: 90 RMB child ticket; children under 1 meter: free
