Shanghai Expo Park is located in the city center, on the south bank of the Huangpu River. It plays a role alongside the Old City, the Bund, and Lujiazui in helping Shanghai expand across the river and shape urban imagery that reflects different development periods of the city. Starting from the current state of Shanghai’s park green spaces and the structure of the city’s park green space system, the park should study its position and function within the overall system. It needs to provide the city with high-quality natural ecological environments and cultural landscapes, create excellent recreational spaces for urban residents, serve as an “oxygen bank” for the city, and offer a comfortable and healthy external leisure space. As such, it is designated as a permanent urban park green space. Therefore, Expo Park is a large-scale urban park green space in central Shanghai, offering functions such as ecological scenery, science education and culture, and outdoor performances.
