Expo Hou滩 Wetland Park

Expo Hou滩 Wetland Park is one of the core green landscape areas of the Shanghai World Expo Park. It is located at the western end of the “2010 Shanghai Expo Park” area, between the east bank of the Huangpu River and Puming Road, bordered by the newly built Puming Road to the south, extending to Nijia Bang to the west, and facing the Lupu Bridge to the north. The park covers an area of 18 hectares. The site was originally occupied by a steel factory (Pudong Steel Group) and the Hou滩 Ship Repair Factory. Design work began in early 2007, led by Professor Yu Kongjian of Peking University and his “Turenscape” design team, and the park was completed in October 2009.

Nowadays, without the bustling crowds from the Expo, the park feels even more tranquil. It is quite large, stretching all the way along the Huangpu River to the Expo Cultural Center. The layout of lawns, wetlands, and sculptures is clear and well arranged, with vast expanses of thatch and reeds creating a natural rural scenery. Facilities are complete, with plenty of benches available where you can take a rest when tired from walking.
