In May of the same year, American pastor Vern donated land for its expansion. In November 1981, it was approved to reopen for services. By the end of 1997, to accommodate the development and construction of Pudong, the church was relocated to its current address. It now serves as the location for the Pudong District Christian Three-Self Patriotic Movement Committee and the Pudong District Christian Council.
