The “Shanghai Expo Park Ice Sculpture Art Gallery” primarily showcases the “Harbin Ice Lantern and Ice Sculpture Landscape.” The indoor ice sculpture area covers nearly 2,000 square meters. As you step inside, the freezing atmosphere instantly transports you to an icy wonderland. There are also crystal-clear ice sculptures that display their unique charm under various colored lights. The exhibition area is divided into a main exhibition zone and a secondary exhibition zone. The ice sculptures in the main zone were designed and created by many renowned ice sculptors from Harbin, using over 1,000 tons of ice. Among them, large-scale ice sculptures are about 4 meters high and approximately 15 meters in diameter, representing classic ice sculpture art landscapes.

The main exhibition area is divided into four major themes: “Red Classics,” “Five Thousand Years of Chinese Civilization,” “Shanghai Scenery,” and “Ice Crystal Wonder.” These blend historical stories and cultural concepts into the artworks. There are familiar statues of historical figures such as Nüwa, Emperor Yan, Confucius, and Mao Zedong, as well as dozens of replicas including Beijing’s Temple of Heaven, Shanghai’s Zigzag Bridge, hexagonal pavilions, the Yan’an Pagoda, Tiananmen Gate, Yan’an cave dwellings, the South Lake cruise boat from the site of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and China’s first aircraft carrier. The secondary exhibition area mainly features art pieces, calligraphy and paintings, and exhibitions of ice sculpture photographs.

Special Tips

The temperature inside the gallery is very low. Cotton coats will be provided at the entrance — remember to wear one.
