The Nicheng Revolutionary History Memorial Hall is located in Nicheng Town, an old revolutionary base area in Pudong. In 1930, the shocking Nicheng Peasant Armed Uprising took place here, leading to the establishment of a Soviet government and the First Regiment of the 22nd Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. In 1938, the first shot of the Pudong anti-Japanese war—the Huijiao Battle—was fired here. From 1940 onward, numerous anti-Japanese fighters were dispatched in batches from this area to cross southward to eastern Zhejiang to establish anti-Japanese revolutionary bases. The History Memorial Hall held its opening ceremony on July 1, 2005, and has been open to the public free of charge since then. Covering an area of 7,380 square meters, the memorial hall features four exhibition halls, as well as the Nicheng Uprising Monument and the Southern Crossing Anti-Japanese Monument. One of the exhibition halls is used for admission and induction oath ceremonies for Party and League members, another is equipped with multimedia projection facilities, and two halls showcase the glorious deeds of 97 revolutionary heroes and martyrs from Nicheng between 1928 and 1975, serving as an important site for patriotic education.
