Zhujiadian Anti-Japanese Battle Memorial

The Zhujiadian Anti-Japanese Battle Memorial serves as a patriotic education base.

On August 21, 1944, under the command of detachment commander Zhu Yamin, the Pudong Detachment of the New Fourth Army’s Eastern Zhejiang Guerrilla Column ambushed Japanese invaders in Zhujiadian, Liuzao (now Huilong Village, Liuzao Town). The soldiers fought bravely and annihilated 34 Japanese troops without any casualties on their side, delivering a heavy blow to the Japanese aggressors. After the liberation, this successful battle example was included by the Training Department of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the Military History Department of the Academy of Military Science as the top infantry company “offensive battle case” in textbooks, exerting a certain influence. To commemorate this typical battle case in the Pudong area during the Anti-Japanese War period, which had significant impact under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the People’s Government of Liuzao Township erected the “Zhujiadian Anti-Japanese Battle Memorial” at the original ambush site on May 15, 1986, with an inscription by Comrade Zhu Yamin.
