The Jinqiao Export Processing Zone serves as a patriotic education base.

The Jinqiao Export Processing Zone is a state-level economic and technological development zone approved by the Chinese government in 1990. Located in the northeastern part of Pudong New Area, Shanghai, it covers a planned area of 27.38 square kilometers. After nearly 20 years of development, the zone has rapidly emerged as an important advanced manufacturing base and an emerging production hub in Shanghai, becoming a key window showcasing the achievements of Pudong’s development and opening-up, as well as a major growth engine for Shanghai’s economy.

Anchored by advanced manufacturing, the Jinqiao Export Processing Zone has developed into an industrial base with four leading sectors: electronics and information technology, automobile manufacturing and components, modern home appliances, and biomedicine and food processing. In recent years, the zone has accelerated industrial restructuring and upgrading. "Headquarters economy, R&D and design, commercial operations, and service outsourcing" have become four key highlights of Jinqiao's production services, attracting over 50 headquarters institutions, more than 90 R&D centers, and 25 service outsourcing companies. The zone also boasts a sound ecological environment and is the first ISO14000 National Demonstration Zone in Shanghai and the third in China. In November 2010, it was successfully designated as a National Eco-Industrial Demonstration Park.
