The First Floor Teahouse & Storytelling Theater in Xinchang is located at No. 424, Xinchang Street, also by a waterway — a prime location that contributed to its former prosperity. This three-story wooden teahouse was built in the late Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of over 100 years. Its weathered, subdued figure stands beside a bridge, looking rather aged and forlorn. Yet despite this, it remains a well-preserved historic building. From afar, one can see a cloth banner bearing the character for “tea” hanging from the building, and the teahouse is still open to visitors every day.
