The former residence of Zhu Xuefan is a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai and a base for patriotic education.

The former residence of Zhu Xuefan was built before the 31st year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1905). It is a traditional two-story brick-and-wood residential building in the Shanghai area, with a total of 10 rooms on both floors and a construction area of 150 square meters. From 1905 to 1925, the renowned patriotic figure Zhu Xuefan spent his childhood here.

Zhu Xuefan (1905-1996) was from Fengjing Town, Jinshan District. He served as Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh National People's Congresses, Honorary Chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, Honorary President of the Chinese Red Cross, and Chairman of the China International Friendship Promotion Association.

The construction of the former residence of Zhu Xuefan was officially launched on June 12, 2005, the 100th anniversary of Zhu Xuefan’s birth. Covering an area of approximately 500 square meters, the main structure is a building from the late Qing Dynasty. The residence is divided into ten sections that introduce Zhu Xuefan’s illustrious and extraordinary life, including his childhood, youth, involvement in the tide of the great revolution, struggle for democracy and peace, participation in the founding of New China, and his glorious later years.

The establishment of the “Zhu Xuefan Life Exhibition Hall” at the former residence expresses the deep remembrance and high respect of his fellow townsmen.

Zhu Xuefan (1905–1996) was an outstanding patriotic democratic fighter and political activist in China. A native of Fengjing, Jiashan, Zhejiang (now Fengjing, Jinshan, Shanghai). He graduated from Shanghai Law College in 1933 and later studied at Harvard University in the United States. In 1938, he co-initiated the Preparatory Committee of the Chinese Workers' Anti-Enemy General Association with the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border Region Federation of Trade Unions, among others. From 1936 to 1945, he served eight times as a labor representative of China at the International Labour Conference, striving for international workers’ support for China’s war of resistance and participating in the international workers’ anti-fascist struggle.
